THE 50th WSA CONFERENCE WAS A GREAT SUCCESS!
Thanks to the invited speakers, to all poster presenters, and to the organizing committee for their efforts in creating an informative and stimulating conference. The 51st Western Spectroscopy Conference will take place January 28 - 30, 2004.

Check this website around August 2003 for information regarding this conference.

CONFERENCE INFORMATION

You and your associates are invited to attend the 50th Anniversary WSA
Conference to be held at the Asilomar Conference Center, Pacific Grove, California. The program consists of invited lectures and two contributed poster sessions on subjects of current research interest in spectroscopy and related areas. For the 50th WSA conference we have an exciting program that includes invited lectures by seven preeminent scientists along with a panel discussion on the next 50 years of spectroscopy and optics. The conference schedule and a registration form are included in this announcement. Register early--space is limited.

Spouses, guests, and families are also invited. The conference center is located on the beautiful Monterey Peninsula near Asilomar State Beach, with many scenic and historic sites located nearby. Guests are also invited to the social hours, meals, and banquet. Arrangements can be made directly with Asilomar if you desire to stay for the weekend.

OTHER INFORMATION

POSTER SESSIONS
All conferees are encouraged to participate in the poster sessions on Wednesday, January 29, or Thursday, January 30, 2003. Due to space limitations, only one poster per attendee will be accepted, and we will impose a limit of two posters per research group if necessary. To ensure that there is sufficient display room, we ask that the poster title and names of authors be included on the registration form. Poster boards are 4' x 8.' Please submit your poster abstract online through the Conference Registration form (above under Links). Because of the special nature of this 50th year celebration, there will not be any contributed talks this year, but they will resume in 2004.

SPECIAL PROGRAMS
If there is interest, we will have a guest program consisting of a walk, led by a park ranger from Asilomar State Beach, of the Asilomar grounds and/or tide pool area. Please indicate the number of guests who would attend on the registration form.
