Catalysis and Separation Science

We design, synthesize, and characterize ligands and organometallic complexes for catalysis.  We conduct structure-function studies of complex molecular and material systems including hydrogen storage media and biomass for renewable energy. (ligand and catalyst synthesis, tandem catalysis, novel reaction media).

Catalysis Science and Technology

Conversion of non-food based plant biomass into transportation fuels and chemical feed-stocks is a growing area of research that will help decrease our dependence on fossil fuels and move towards a more carbon neutral fuel economy.

Angewandte Chemie - Tranforming the Chemistry of Catalysis

Researchers are exploring the possibility of replacing the normally used noble metal catalysts with earth-abundant metals such as cobalt.
