Supercritical Fluids Experimentation Team
Welcome to the Supercritical Fluids Experimentation Facility Web Site, a Team within the C-CDE Group of Chemistry Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Supercritical Fluids are receiving serious attention as nontoxic, highly effective alternatives in industrial processes. (The video above, shot from inside the Scrub, shows a semiconductor wafer being cleaned using supercritical fluids). At Los Alamos National Lab's Supercritical Fluids Facility, we use unique resources to look at ways supercritical fluids ("SCFs") can be used for such processes as:
and we work with with clients to examine techniques for using SCFs in a variety of specific industrial applications. From this section of the C-CDE Site, you can find out how to make a supercritical fluid, explore various applications for supercritical fluids, read about technologies developed at the SCF Facility (two of which have received the prestigious R&D100 Award), access reference information for LANL publications, view images from poster sessions delivered by the SCF staff, and find out who to contact for further information.
