The C-ACS Indutrial Hygiene Team is certified by the American Industrial Hygiene Association and provides ISO 17025 compliant beryllium analyses to four divisions at LANL in support of the DOE Chronic Beryllium Disease Prevention Program mandated by 10 CFR 850

The Team's rapid, accurate, and certified determination of beryllium provides LANL industrial hygienists and beryllium workers information critical to maintaining a safe working environment.

Air filter and surface swipes obtained from areas where beryllium is routinely handled are acid digested and analyzed by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES). Ten elements of regulatory concern are also determined in addition to beryllium. Over 10,000 samples per year are analyzed with an average turn around time of three days and in critical situations, 24 hours.
